Rock Wool Melting Cupola Furnace

Rock wool cupola furnace is the core high-temperature melting equipment for producing rock wool insulation materials. It is a vertical continuous smelting furnace, mainly using coke as fuel. It melts raw materials such as basalt, diabase, slag and dolomite into uniform molten liquid with stable fluidity at a high temperature of 1450℃~1600℃, providing qualified melt for the subsequent centrifugal fiber forming process.

Working principle

 

Continuous production: High melting rate (1.5 - 30 tons per hour), suitable for batch castings.

Low cost: The fuel is coke, and the energy consumption and operating costs are much lower than those of electric furnaces.

High adaptability: It can consume scrap steel and recycled materials, with flexible raw materials.

 

Structural and material characteristics

 

 

 

Furnace structure: tall, upright vertical cylinder (height 10–20 m, diameter 2–5 m), divided into furnace throat, shaft, hearth, and slag/iron tapholes.

 Special material: The shell is made of high-temperature resistant boiler steel, lined with high-aluminum refractory bricks; key parts (siphon port, liquid outlet port) are coated with a special refractory coating.

 Cooling system: The furnace body adopts gravity-driven natural circulation water cooling, without pump drive. It can protect itself even in case of power failure, requiring no emergency power supply.

•Air intake design: Multiple rings of air vents are installed at the middle and lower parts. The modern type adopts plug-in oxygen-enriched air supply + cyclone nozzles, delivering hot air directly to the furnace core for more uniform combustion.
