1. Basic Functions
Vibration and noise reduction: Block or weaken the mechanical vibration generated by equipment (such as pumps, ors, fans) from propagating along the pipeline during operation.
Compensation for displacement: Allow a certain degree of axial, radial, or angular displacement to accommodate thermal expansion and or installation deviations.
Protect equipment and pipelines: Prevent weld cracking, bracket loosening, or seal failure due to vibration fatigue.
2. Common Struct Forms
Rubber/Elastic Body Vibration-Damping Flange
Between two metal flanges, install high-strength rubber, polyurethane, or siliconeaskets.
The rubber layer provides elasticity, absorbing high-frequency vibrations.
Often used for water pump inlets and outlets, air conditioning water systems, ship, etc.
Spring-type Vibration-Damping Flange Components
Integrated with metal springs or disc springs, suitable for heavy loads and low-frequency vibration.
Common in industrial heavy equipment (such as large compressors, steam turbines).
Composite (Metal Non-Metal) Flange Joints
For: Inner and outer metal rings intermediate PTFE/rubber composite gaskets, combining sealing and vibration-damping performance.
Vibration-Damping Fl with Positioning Device
Allow displacement within the elastic deformation range, but prevent excessive stretching or compression through positioning bolts, ensuring safety.
3. Precautions
❗ Cannot replace rigid flanges: Vibration-damping flanges have low stiffness and are not suitable for applications requiring high alignment accuracy or bearing large bending moments.
❗ Regular inspection aging: Rubber/elastic bodies are susceptible to aging and cracking due to ozone, ultraviolet light, oil, or high temperatures.
❗ Installation direction and pre-tightening: Some products have flow direction indicators, and bolts need to be evenly tightened diagonally to avoid uneven pressure.
