The smooth, toothless integrated saw wheel body is a forged blank manufactured through a single-piece, integral forging and ring-forming process, featuring a smooth, flat rim with no toothed annular working surface – distinct from cutting saw discs equipped with cutting teeth or grooves. The entire component is formed by plastic deformation of a single steel billet without any joining or welding; precise machining allowances are reserved on the surface. Upon completion of machining, the rim constitutes a continuous, smooth working surface. This type of saw wheel is primarily used as a drive wheel, tensioning wheel, guide idler wheel, sanding wheel, or friction drive wheel for band saw machines. It operates by utilizing the frictional force generated by its smooth surface to drive the saw belt at high speed; it does not directly participate in the cutting process. Therefore, it imposes extremely stringent requirements on roundness, flatness, dynamic balance, wear resistance, and vibration stability, making it a core transmission-bearing forged blank for heavy-duty sawing equipment.

Working principle

 

Material cutting and preparation: High-quality alloy steel is selected, and the billets are cut to specified lengths based on the product's weight; High-temperature uniform heating: Medium-frequency heating is applied to reach the forging temperature, ensuring uniform plasticity both internally and externally for workpieces with large cross-sections; Pecking and compacting forging: High-pressure pecking is performed using a hydraulic press to eliminate internal looseness, voids, and inclusions, thereby densifying the metal microstructure; Punching to form rings: A central installation hole is punched to prepare ring-shaped pre-formed blanks; Ring rolling and diameter expansion/shape adjustment: The ring is subjected to radial and axial rolling and stretching using a ring rolling machine to forge a large-diameter, smooth ring-shaped blank contour, with sufficient finishing thickness reserved for the rim section; Stress-relief heat treatment: Annealing is performed to eliminate forging-induced stresses, preventing deformation during subsequent finishing operations or high-speed machining; Non-destructive testing and dimensional inspection are conducted, after which the component is delivered to the customer for further finishing operations such as turning, precision grinding, and drilling; Forming the core: Metal fibers are distributed in a complete, continuous circumferential pattern, ensuring uniform stress distribution during the wheel's high-speed rotation and providing a smooth working surface with long-term wear resistance and resistance to deformation.
